PRESIDENT

Marialexia is from Riverside California and a third-year Ph.D. student in the Higher Education program in the School of Education. She is currently an Equity and Justice scholar, focusing on college access for minoritized communities and structural inequalities within institutions of higher education.

Eloy Romero Blanco

Eloy Romero Blanco

VICE PRESIDENT

Eloy is from Spain and is in the second year of his doctorate in History. His research traces the social history of the Spanish-speaking communities that inhabited New Orleans in the XIX century. He enjoys hiking, team sports, and music.

Esteban Alcalá

SECRETARY

Esteban Alcalá (el, he, him, his) is from San Diego, California and Tijuana, Mexico. He is a second year Ph.D. student in the Higher Education program in the School of Education. His research interests involved Hispanic Serving Institutions, educational policy, equity and justice, and transfronterizx students. He enjoys hiking, camping, weightlifting, and watching Netflix and Hulu.

Shekina is from Puerto Rico and currently a third-year Graduate student in the Program of Microbiology and Immunology in the School of Medicine. In her spare time she enjoys baking, watching baking shows, and helping her sister run iconicchica.com, which focuses on Mental Health, Poetry, and Life.

Jordan Barria-Pineda

BUSINESS MANAGER

Jordan is from Valdivia, Chile and he is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Computing and Information. His research aims to build information systems able to influence positives changes in online behavior, especially in educational environments. He enjoys swimming, jogging, drawing, and trading card games.

Alejandro Muñoz-Valencia

Alejandro Muñoz-Valencia

OUTREACH OFFICER

Alejandro is originally from Colombia and currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Clinical Research. He is interested in the supply and geographic access to blood products for the treatment of patients with life-threatening bleeding conditions, especially those living in underserved areas. His hobbies are road trips, sightseeing, and jogging.

SUSTAINABILITY COORDINATOR

Grace is a third-year Ph.D. student at the Program in Microbiology and Immunology, and she believes in the necessity of living in harmony with the environment. In that sense, she is contributing to finding academic and social spaces where Lagos could bring awareness of the importance of sustainable actions in the Pitt community. Besides studying and being in Lagos, she enjoys every single detail that makes her feel alive: nature, friendship, family, and cry or laugh with a good movie!.

Adelina Treviño Bradshaw

MEDIA CONTENT CREATOR

Hailing from Texas, Adelina Treviño Bradshaw is a second-generation Chicana. She is in the School of Public and International Affairs (GSPIA) and is studying for a Master’s in Public Administration with a focus on Public and Nonprofit Management. A former playwright, her hobbies include writing, baking, and sewing. As a member of the Leadership Board of the Students of Color Alliance at GSPIA, she is working with her colleagues to make the school a more inclusive, supportive, and decolonized environment.

Ana Teresa Flores

Mental Health Liaison

Ana is from Southern California and is a third-year doctoral student in the School of Social Work. Her research interest is in delivering evidence-based treatments for psychosis to under-served communities and implementing cultural adaptations where necessary. She enjoys ceramics, Pokemon, and her bicycle.
